The business

Well, I did it. I made another offer on the business today, and they accepted it. I'm very excited. We take possession next weekend, and I can't wait. I've got a lot of plans for the place, and Colleen will be there to help me out. She has some great plans too. This is gonna be great!

update on the business

It looks good. For a small business, it makes pretty good money. Not gonna get rich on it, but not gonna lose money either. Meeting with my banker tomorrow...if that works out...it's a go. Wish me luck.

Crossing my fingers

Going down to take a look at the books of a local business that is looking to sell out. Gonna look it over real good...and if I like what I see...I'll be meeting with my banker tomorrow. Hopefully, if all works out well....I'll be a business owner again my Monday!

Why a blog?

Kinda wondered that myself for a while...but now I think I know. Ever need to get something "off your chest"? Ever just want to vent? Well...a blog is the perfect place to do so. If someone reads it, thats' just great. If nobody ever does...well then that's ok too. Maybe if I have some place to "unload", I won't unload on my friends and family so much. And apparently, I have a lot to unload.

If you ever want to unload, feel free to do so here.

Unbelievable

Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540 million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries to military personnel received during active duty.... The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the opposition to his proposal.

"Look, it's an all volunteer force," Obama complained. "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn't compute.." "I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country, "Obama continued. "I wasn't asking for blood, just money.

With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I'd have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation's deficit. I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans."

Oregon Politics

Just saw an ad on facebook about measure 66. This is some new corporate tax bs they are trying to stuff down our throats. The ad contained information about how measure 66 would help the unemployed because the first $2400 of unemployment would not be taxed. WHOOPEE! My husband is a Union Carpenter. So ... I should vote for measure 66 so we don't have to pay taxes on his measly unemployment checks, and then worry about what he's going to build later? When no corporation in their right mind would come to Oregon? I'd rather pay the tax and have him working.
These are the first words of what I hope to become a well-read blog from a grandmother.

About Me

I've been married to the same wonderful man for 31 years. It hasn't been perfect, but then if it had been, what would be left to achieve? I have three great kids who have given me most of my gray hair, and 6 grands that have given me the rest. And there's another one on the way! My life is hectic, but I get bored easily, so I guess that is best. I'm opinionated, and I'm not afraid to be vocal. I suppose that is why I have created this blog. As a school bus driver since 1986, I have a lot of experience with kids...and a lot of opinions about how kids act and why they act that way.
